Defense Minister of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak, General of the Army of Ukraine, signed an order for the officers of the reserve 31/07/2018

The order of conscription and military service on the call of officers was established by the order of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine from 10.04.2009 year № 170 “On approval of the Instruction on the organization of the implementation of the Regulations on the passage of citizens of Ukraine military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine” (hereinafter – the order МОУ № 170) .

In accordance with the order of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine No. 170, the term of conscription military service for officers is 18 months.

Can be called up for military service officers?

According to the decision of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine (with the execution of the order on the personnel) in 2017, persons under the age of 43 who have completed a full course of military training under the reserve officers training program (graduated from the military departments) can be recruited for military service on the call of officers. have a higher education (not lower than a bachelor’s degree) and have been given a primary officer rank.

The call will take place on an equal footing for both men and women. Involvement of conscripted servicemen to the forces and means of carrying out ATO will only occur after compulsory training in higher military educational institutions (duration – 3 months).

After receiving the call for military service, reserve officers are obliged to arrive at a certain collection point and within the time specified in the agenda. In the case of absence of reserve officers without good reason on a call, they are liable in the manner prescribed by law. The presence of valid reasons for non-appearance at the collection point must be documented. The call for military service of reserve officers is carried out after a mandatory medical examination. Based on the results of the medical examination, people who are fit for military service for health reasons are subject to military service.

The postponement of drafting for military service of officers is granted to persons solely by a decision of the certification committee of the regional military commissariat on the grounds defined in Article 17 of the Law of Ukraine “On Military Duty and Military Service”, namely:

  • for family reasons
  • for health reasons
  • for education;
  • to continue their professional activities.Military service officers on conscription will be served outside the ATU at points of permanent deployment of military units and subunits.
